Be a Leader
Troop 223 Girls is entirely YOUTH LED. We allow and expect the kids to lead. Girls have opportunities: to be leaders of their patrol, to be leaders of the entire Troop, to lead a service project, to teach merit badges, and to communicate with parents and community members. Girls learn to optimize the resources and abilities of each member of their team in order to realize a common vision.

Make Ethical Choices
We teach girls to make moral and ethical choices and to learn by reflecting on choices made, particularly while experiencing the challenges of outdoor adventures.

Be of Service
Scouts learn to be contributing members of their community. As part of their patrol experience, they participate in a variety of service projects. The Eagle rank requires an expansive project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads and manages. Scouts experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from the experience of helping others.
Scouting is an adventure that is fun and challenging. Scouting builds self confidence and leadership skills.

The scouting classroom is traditionally outdoors. The outdoors provides opportunities for adventure and challenges, and is a hallmark of the Scouting program. Increasing difficulty of hikes and campouts challenges Scouts and helps build self confidence.
Girls meet once per week, camp once per month, and develop a broad range of leadership skills on their way to becoming Eagle Scouts.

Troop 223 produces more Eagle Scouts than any other Troop in the country and welcomes boys and girls. New Scouts typically enter during their 5th or 6th grade year. Eagle Scout rank is often earned by the beginning of the 10th grade.
